On a sunny autumnal day, Boreham House in all its splendour was the perfect backdrop for the latest Liberty Wealth Management ‘Making Life Less Taxing’ seminar.
In a fast changing financial world it is increasingly important to give both clients and prospective clients the opportunity to hear how the markets are performing, especially since Brexit, and to give everyone an update on legislation.
After a brief introduction from Principal Lee Devonald, Angus Houston from Pavilion Row gave everyone a reminder of why an up-to-date Will is so essential.

It is so important to regularly review your will and make sure it is as relevant today as it was when written. Gavin McGhee from St. James’s Place Asset Management Team then took the floor- covering topics from Markets post Brexit to Inheritance Tax and pension planning.
Gavin explained that post-Brexit we have seen the pound fall sharply against the dollar, whilst the FSTE has soared. Experts are saying that this type of market volatility is something that we need to get used to. In fact, Gavin quoted Tye Bouter from EdgePoint Investors, St. James’s Place Global Equity Fund, who said:
‘We like to say that volatility is the friend of the investor who knows the value of a business and is the enemy of the investor who doesn’t. We absolutely love volatility; it can present us with great opportunities.’
Running both morning and evening seminars has definitely been a positive move, making sure those who would like to attend can. Those who are either at work or busy during the day can opt for the evening event instead.
